Social Networking Ideas for Small Business

If you run a small business, then hopefully you are using social networking as a way of getting more customers. There is simply no way to reach more customers than with the world of social networking. Social networking sites like Facebook have millions of users that visit every day and play games or talk with friends. Nearly every major company in the world has a page on a social networking site, including Coca-Cola, Nike, Heineken, and Frito-Lay. It does not matter what you sell, or what type of services you offer, you must use a social networking site and make it work for your business in the most efficient manner.

The best social networking websites allow you create a page for your business and send out invitations to those that could benefit from your business. If using Facebook, when someone visits the page, they must press the Like button on the page to gain full access to the contents. Since it is free to use the sites, you can experiment with different ideas and see which ideas you have that actually work.  With Facebook, you can update your status and inform those that “like” your page of any upcoming sales or other events taking place. Some companies update every few days, while other companies update multiple times throughout the day.

If you really want to make social networking sites work for you, then offer customers something different or something that they would not find on your business’s website. If you simply regurgitate the same information that customers find elsewhere, they might “like” the page, but only visit it the one time, which does little for your marketing. Magazines and how to save money blogs consistently tell readers to “Like” Facebook pages because retailers offer special discounts and savings. Listing a coupon code for free shipping or a discount of 15 percent off a $50 order are the type of updates that get you customers.

Using social networking sites also help you expand once your company starts to grow. By offering discounts, you encourage customers that might have previously ignored your company to place an order. That small discount is often enough to get someone to try something new. Once that person places an order and has a good experience, he is more likely to tell others and encourage friends to try your services. In today’s world of constant social networking, you are doing yourself a disservice if you do not jump on the bandwagon and get a page going. If you’re pressed for time and would like help setting everything up there are high quality marketing companies that can do this for you at a very competitive rate.
